First half – The team came out flat, not ready for the game. The boys has probably decided that they are already the winners of the group. The goal came out of   nowhere, it is called – “nobody knows what just happened”. Our defender thought that the goalie was going to come out and the goalie thought that the defender would clear the ball. Well we are 0-1 and we are playing the last place team.

Then the team woke up, starting creating goalscoring chances one after another, but the ball didn’t want to go into the net. Timmy Murphy, Xavier Gomez, Simon Megally, Xavier Gomez again, have not converted the good goal scoring opportunities.

Second half – Mostly played on our opponents half of the field, but not many chances to score. Closer to the end of the second half the ball hit the hand of the Swede's defender in a box and Eric Kotlyar made it 1-1 from the penalty spot. At the final minute of the game Xavier Gomez had a chance to win a game for us but couldn’t beat the goalie. End of the game. 

 

Good we were able to tie otherwise we would be second in our group and have to play 1/64 instead of going straight to the 1/32. The second place team had better goal differential( in this tournament in case we tie for the first place the goal differential would come first). They won their last game 4-0 and have not we equalized they would be first in a group.

 

July 17th

First half -  We were not able to keep our motivation for the 1/16 game.The Swedish team has dominated the first half creating the number of good goal scoring opportunities.

The Swedes scored their 1st goal after the long range shoot. Then Xavier Gomez was going one one with the Swedish goalie after a nice 1-2 combination but the referee calls offside( very questionable). The Swedes are keep pushing forward and after a corner cross the ball hits a head of one of our player and going to our net, 0-2 for us. Very disappointing first half.

Second  half – We are back to the game. The team looks completely different. Taking a game under control but the Swedes are playing tough. A lot of goal scoring opportunities created but not scored. Dan Kavanagh, Benjamin

Kucera, Timmy Murphy are missing very good scoring chances. We keep pushing forward. The Swedish goalie is working very hard. We lost 0–2. Disappointing loss.

   July 17th

 First  half -  The team came out strong, very motivated. But the Swedes were motivated too.

Very dynamic first half with a lot of one on one fights. Not many chances created from both sides but it was us who scored – Simon Megally went one on one with the Swedish goalie and scored, 1-0 we are ahead.

  Second half – We are playing well. Looks like the Swedes lost all their motivation – not able to create anything dangerous for us. After Daniel Cavazos  hits a cross bar the ball fell behind the goal line and referee showed to the center of the field 2 – 0. We are in control of the game.

Dan Kavanagh is hitting the crossbar again.

Bill Cooney is sending the ball to the left lower corner of the goal but the goalie is making a save. Timmy Murphy’s shot is very dangerous. We won and going to 1/16.
